Surabaya, November 25, 2021- For the number of students at Ciputra University, this is the time everyone is waiting for, especially for those who will be attending the winter school at the end of the year. This event was opened by MC, Jonathan Edward, who was followed by the rector of Ciputra University, Ir. Yohannes Somawiharja, M.Sc, on the Zoom meeting platform by life without missing the solemnity of the event. “I hope everybody who joined this program enjoys this new experience,” said him, enclosing the opening greeting.

This event was also opened by Dr. Iskandar Itan as Rector of Batam International University (UIB), Prof. Ir. Dr. Lee Sze Wei as President of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College, and Prof. Dr. Christina Widya Utami, M.M., CLC, CPM (A) as Vice President of Academic Affairs of Ciputra University. In the closing remarks of the opening session of the event, Widya said, “This new journey will give you many lessons and I hope you’ll learn more there. Also, thank you for being our partner in this program.”

The event was to be continued with a performance of a traditional opening dance called Remo by Agung Prasetyo, a student of Communication Science at Ciputra University 2020. “An amazing service from dance, also amazing people there, and I’m proud,” said Gracia Ongkowijoyo, S.E., M.Sc. “I also want to express my gratitude to all the partners in this program,” said Gracia Ongkowijoyo, S.E., M.Sc. Her greeting is also the opening for the leader and stakeholders of this program, including Dr. Henry Susanto Pranoto, B.Sc. in Bible, B.Mus., M.Mus. After that, the event was to be continued with foto sessions and an explanation of the winter school program that only the participants could attend.

Mr. Henry Pranoto gives an overview of the direction of this program that will be held on November 18th through December 17th, 2021, in the theme of Cultural Exchange Performance Entertainment. He directs all participants to register at the links below on his PPT, also providing information about the cultural experiences that will be held like music, fashion, dance, foods, and languages. Not only that, but the final project was also described at this session and showed how the videos will be done. At this moment, Ciputra University also teaches about the history of Sekartaji through the sharing of Mr. Dwi Cahyono. “Culture was the main point of the country; without that, it would be bad news and a bad future for the country because that means we are losing identity,” said the expert on culture.

Through this event, the stakeholders want to improve the knowledge of the younger generation about their culture and story. Because who wants to conserve it if not the Indonesian people? As a result, Indonesia will be the most powerful country not only in economic, social, and political terms, but also in all aspects of government life, particularly in culture. Thus, us being the younger generation, must be smart and be responsible for the Indonesian identity that is rich and varied in culture.
